The spotlight in Kaluwas, Bhiwani, isn't just on Olympian Vijender Singh's wedding to Archana Singh today; it's also on the man behind the stunning wedding attire, renowned designer Manav Gangwani. As Vijender, fresh off a bronze medal win at the Arafura Games in Australia, prepared for his big day, Gangwani stepped up to create the perfect outfits for the celebrated boxer.
Luxury and opulence are two of many synonyms that could be used to replace the name Manav Gangwani, which means when tasked with designing two key ensembles for Vijender’s wedding and reception. Despite being pressed for time, having flair and precision helped Gangwani do her best. In a statement of this kind about delivery under pressure, Gangwani said, “We started working on the two outfits, but they will be ready by Vijender’s big day.”
Gangwani designed an ivory and gold Tibetan brocade sherwani for Vijender during his wedding ceremony. This masterpiece is subtly accentuated with Swarovski crystals and features a gold lame collar along with cuffs. Other components included Ivory kurta-pajama as well as a gold stole; dark fuchsia/deep red shaded pagri (turban); and Tibetan brocade jootis. Each small aspect of this outfit spoke volumes about Gangwani's eye for detail while blending historical conventions with contemporary classiness.
The reception outfit was no less spectacular. On this occasion, he designed a golden lame sherwani complete with an in-built collar that bore a black velvet appliqué decorated with emerald green Swarovski crystals attached around its edges.
